Waxing is a common and popular service offered at salons and spas and is considered the most efficient and effective method of hair removal, whether it is eyebrow, upper lip, armpit or intimate area many people choose waxing for its long lasting results.
Waxing is a Great Alternative to Shaving
Waxing is better as it removes hair from the root and will not regrow soon and is much more permanent as it thins the hair over time and lessens the hair growth. On the other hand shaving is daunting and frequent as the hair grows back soon and is thicker than before. Waxing exfoliates skin leaving it silky smooth.
Types of Wax
There are many types of waxing for removing unwanted hair- strip wax or soft wax and strip-less wax or hard wax.
Strip-less wax or commonly known as hard wax, film wax or hot wax, it is thicker in consistency and applied warm with a spatula, after hardening wax is removed without the use of strip. Different types of hard kits are available in the market to choose from. Hard wax is available in the form of pellets, bricks and diskettes for easy melting.
Ingredients of Hard Wax
The base ingredients in hard wax are beeswax, rosin and microcrystalline waxes, various other ingredients are added to alter the consistency, flexibility and melting point.
Typical additions are emollients (lanoline and vegetable or mineral oils), paraffin for thickness, plant extracts with soothing and anti-microbial properties (tea tree, lavender, chamomile and rose), fragrance and coloring agents.
New generation waxes contain synthetic rosins and elastomers which increases pliability of hard wax.
