Track Your Baby’s Growth

Baby growth chart is essential because it lets you as well as the paediatrician know if the baby is growing properly. Babies follow a similar growth pattern, and there is no exact ideal height and weight for a baby. The growth chart is used to see if the baby is growing as per the pattern.

The paediatrician notes down the length, weight, and the head circumference of the baby and marks it as a dot on the baby’s growth chart. This forms a pattern over time which lets the doctor judge if the baby’s growth is on track. There is some difference between the baby weight chart and Baby growth chart of boys and girls. This is because boys tend to grow a little heavier and taller than girls.

Track Your Baby’s Growth

Baby-boy Growth Chart

WHO has set aside the growth standard for baby boys. The measurement range is between the 3rd and the 97th percentile. If your baby boy’s weight fits into this range, then you can be rest assured that he is normal and within the height, weight, and head circumference measurement range. To track if the baby is growing fine, you would need to use a chart that shows the growth curve and the percentile. Months

What does percentile indicate?

If your baby is in the 20th percentile, this means that 19 percent of babies of the same age and the same gender weigh less than your baby and 80 percent weigh more than your baby. The percentile for height and weight will not be the same. The paediatrician will look at the percentile curve and check if the growth is steady along the curve.
