One cannot expect them to arrange the equipments after a person with a critical condition walks into a hospital. They need to be prepared well in advance for the same. This is the reason why they install emergency trolley. This trolley is a tad bit different from a normal trolley. This piece of furniture is made in a way that it houses lots of things that can be placed in a systematic manner so that at a time of any emergency all things medical professionals will need is readily available to them.

Important Contents And Equipments Of An Emergency Trolley!

There are few things that need to be housed in every emergency trolley in every hospital. Some of its contents are stated below:

On the Top Shelf 

This area of an emergency trolley needs to be dirt free and completely sanitized. Apart from this it needs to have a defibrillator that is perfectly tested. It also needs to have an Airway tray that is unsealed, not expired and uncontaminated. It is important to replace the tray if the expiry date is crossed. After this, a pair of adult multifunction defibrillator pads is also essential to be placed on the top shelf of the emergency trolley. ECG monitoring dots are extremely essential. Both these things need to be sealed and within the expiry date. Both the things have a tendency of drying out soon.

The First Drawer 

This section of the trolley needs to house a huge list of products. It needs to have a defibrillator test load and a clean stethoscope. ECG paper rolls that are clean and these should be non-contaminated from dirt. Check whether there is a pair of lubricant gel packets, a pair of oxygen mask, a water circuit, a face mask, different sizes of Endotracheal tube, different sizes of Nasopharyngeal airway. All these things should be sealed and clean. Apart from this, the trolley needs to have pocket mask, one way valves, different sizes of Oropharyngeal airway and forceps.

The Second Drawer

This is again an important section of the emergency trolley. All the equipments included in this drawer needs to be sealed and within the expiration period. The things included are disposable scissor, a box of disposable tourniquets, a minimum of 3 sets of different colored tubes to collect blood samples, 3 sets of safety vacuette barrels, 5 sets of vacuette needles, 3 sets of blood collecting vacuette barrels, 3 butterfly needles, 5 blue as well as green needles, 5 injection needle of 21G, 5 needle blunts, 3 sets of syringes of all sizes, a 3 way tap and 3 set of safety cannula of each size. In addition to this 3 bungs, 3 gauze swabs, 5 packets of cannula dressing, a minimum of 10 skin wipes, bandages, disposable razor, 3 syringe of arterial blood gas and a roll of stick tape should also be included in this drawer.

The Third Drawer

An emergency trolley is incomplete without 2 sets of rapid infusion, 2 sets of infusion pump. This pump needs to be dirt free and sealed. After this, it needs to have 2 box of large and medium gloves each, a roll of apron and a pair of goggle in order to protect the eye that is properly cleaned and without any kind of contagion. Lastly it needs to install sealed and unexpired suction catheters of all the sizes each.

Bottom Shelf of the Emergency Trolley

This is probably the most important section of the trolley as it should have all drugs which are used during emergencies. These drugs needs to be sealed and within the expiration date. Additionally it needs containers and lifting sheet.
