How to Choose an Electric Longboard?

Choosing an electric longboard can be a “mission impossible”, due to the large variety of devices on the market. The electric longboard market is constantly growing, which means the number of options to choose from will increase exponentially. We had a conversation with Paolo Pipponzi – one of the founders of Linky Innovation and he mentioned very important things you need to take into consideration before buying one of those, such as:

  • The motor

The longboard is powered by an electric motor, which uses the electricity from the battery. The different models of electric longboards have different motors in terms of wattage. This determines the power the board is capable of putting out.

  • The charger

This one is the thing that charges the battery of your longboard when it is low. Before buying a board you have to choose from these options that offer the fastest and safe charging method. Also, find out what’s the price of the charger alone. If the one that comes with the device breaks, you will have to buy a new one, so make sure it is affordable.

  • The range

The distance that you can travel on the electric longboard on a single charge is called range. It varies in different devices – from 9 to 18 miles and more in some models. The range is important, especially if you want to use your board to commute.

  • The battery

The battery cells are a key element in the electric longboard. They store the charge that powers the motor. It is crucial for the batteries to provide a good backup range so that you can get from point A to point B. To make the best choice, you have to take into consideration how you will use the board, for what purpose (just for fun, or to commute), and what is your weight. All that is linked to the capacity of the battery you need the board to have.

  • The wheels

There is a huge variety of options when it comes to the wheels of the board – different sizes, materials, etc. The way you ride the board determines what kind of wheels you need. The sizes of the wheels are between 60 mm and 107 mm. Also, it is important what the wheel is made of. Softer wheels have a better grip on the road, but are slower, while the harder ones run faster.

  • The weight

The best electric longboard models are made of carbon fiber, bamboo, or maple. This makes the boards lighter and durable. You should go for the lightweight board because it will be easy to carry.

There are a lot of things you need to consider before buying an electric longboard. All of which are linked to if you are going to use it for fun, or for traveling in the city. There are many people that use it for commuting these days. And why not? It is fun to use, fast, and reliable method of transportation. The best models on the market are stable and provide a good range, which makes them a great choice. And by using a board to go to work, you will not only be excited every day but also will show your true self – an “out of the box” thinking man.
